About Art IS Education
Art IS Education is an annual month-long showcase of arts learning in Alameda County schools and community sites in March during National Arts Education Month. This year marks its 19th year anniversary of advancing all art forms as an essential part of a high quality and equitable education that ensures every student reaches their maximum potential.
The Art IS Education 2019 theme is “Creativity is Not Optional!” connects to Create CA growing statewide movement demanding that every student has access to an arts education. We know that arts education develops a generation of creative problem solvers and transforms communities. That’s why we must demand the arts in every school.
OUR BELIEF STATEMENT
We believe that the core value and purpose of the educational system is to build a healthy and equitable society. Education should create and provide equitable opportunities for students to become healthy, knowledgeable citizens - conscious, informed, respectful and engaged - who are prepared to deal with and influence change, and contribute to a diverse, interdependent, community. Schools provide learning environments for students to see what is, to imagine what's possible, and to develop tools and life skills that dispel ignorance.
